In Memory of Richard Brockhaus ’68

RICHARD R. BROCKHAUS ’68 of Rockville, Maryland, died Aug. 12, 2021. At Ripon, he majored in physics and philosophy and was a member of Partners in the Legacy. He received a Ph.D. in philosophy from Brown University. He taught philosophy at Bucknell University before moving to the Washington, D.C., area. “Doc Brock” taught calculus and physics at Landon School in Bethesda, Maryland, for close to 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Ann; one son and one daughter.

On Thursday, August 12, 2021 of Rockville, MD following an extended illness. Born May 10, 1946 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Joseph and Evelyn Brockhaus. Richard attended Ripon College in WI and later received his PhD in Philosophy from Brown University. He taught Philosophy at Bucknell University before moving to the DC area. “Doc Brock” taught Calculus and Physics at Landon School in Bethesda, MD for close to 30 years. Beloved husband of Ann M. Brockhaus; devoted father of Theresa Ayn and Michael Richard Brockhaus; cherished step-father of Katherine Martin (husband, James) and Elisabeth Marousek (husband, Christopher); adored grandfather of Julianna, James “Jamie”, and Sarah Martin, Hannah and Matthew Marousek; loving brother of Mary Ann Himmelmann.  Services and interment to be held at a later date.
